Programs/Education
Inclusive Practices to Support Social Emotional Learning
Participants will explore ways to support social-emotional learning for their students and themselves. We will make art, reflect on the art-making and come together to share the wisdom in the room. Participants will explore:

Accessible Events: Situational Responsiveness
This workshop shares ways to include access as part of the event planning process. The workshop will help organizations increase accessibility for event guests. We will also explore ways to encourage and support access requests. Participants will gain:
- A deeper understanding of areas to consider when planning for access
- Resources to support accessible event planning
- Confidence in responding to access requests for events
Accessible Remote Programs
Sometimes being in person or transportation can be barriers to participation. Continuing to offer remote programming is an important part of accessibility. In this training, participants will learn more about the world of online events and remote options for programming. This workshop explores:
- Accessibility features of virtual event technology
- Ways to create accessible options for participant engagement online
- Ways to incorporate access into the event from start to finish
- Things to think about when supporting participants in a virtual event
Marketing/Communications
Meeting Accommodation Requests & Anticipating Needs
Anticipating needs and planning for access helps guests participate fully. Planning for access allows disabled attendees to contribute their perspectives and expertise. This workshop supports organizations working to ensure all guests experience inclusion and belonging. Participants in this session will come away with:

Accessible Marketing
Learn about marketing a program’s access features and implementing accessible marketing strategies. In this two-hour interactive webinar, participants will:
- Gain an understanding of how to use access symbols
- Learn practical and low-cost ways to increase the accessibility of their marketing materials.
- Discover ways to increase the access of programs through marketing in virtual landscapes
- Identify differences between access features of programs and accessibility practices for marketing materials
- Develop and strengthen their knowledge of accessible graphic design
- Practice accessible design skills
- Identify potential organizations to reach audiences that match access features in programs
- Identify and make a plan to apply techniques in practice
Accessible Social Media
This workshop shares the basics of creating accessible social media content. We will go over how to use fonts and colors in design, how to create alt text for images, and captioning videos. We will go over where access features are located on different social media platforms and share resources and tools to help you create accessible content.
Plain Language
This workshop explores what plain language is, why it matters, and how to use it. We will provide writing exercises and real world examples. We aim to help you:
- Learn how to identify and write for your audience
- Use plain language techniques to create clear and effective writing
Visitor Experience/Exhibitions
Accessible Exhibits
Learn about the different forms of access and how to incorporate access into every aspect of exhibit design and presentation. This training will define and explore physical access, information access, sensory access, and communication access in planning an exhibit.
Visitor Services Training
This workshop starts with disability etiquette. It helps participants build confidence around welcoming people with disabilities into your space. Staff will come away with the tools to provide a supportive environment for all.
Verbal Description & Sighted Guides
Verbal description is an access feature for people who are blind or have low vision. It applies written or spoken words to visual elements of an event, location, or image. This is an interactive opportunity to learn about verbal descriptions. We will practice skills, and answer questions. The where and how of providing verbal description will be covered. Facilitators will share their own experiences with this access practice. The training will close with practice writing and speaking verbal description.
In this two-hour training, participants will:

- Practice verbal description skills
- Ask questions and reflect upon potential next steps
